Pure luck or UCLA really back? Last week, UCLA upset No.7 Penn State, this week, they faced off against another Big 10 opponent, Michigan State. The Bruins were able to win big against the Spartans 38-18. It might be safe to say that UCLA really can compete in the Big 10Michigan State would open up with a 2-yard run, giving them a 7-0 lead. The second quarter was all about UCLA. Their defense made a few key plays, such as forcing a turnover on downs and also stopping a 3rd and 6 to keep Michigan in check. Nico Lamaleva would connect to Berger yet again, making the score 17-7. To close out the quarter, Titus Mokaio-Atimalala would find the end zone, taking them 24-7 to halftime.Entering halftime, UCLA struck quickly with Jaivian Thomas striking the endzone, extending the lead to 31-7. Berger would be able to score another touchdown, making it 38-7. MSU would remain scoreless when their quarterback left in the third quarter after taking a big sack from Keanu Williams.
In the final quarter, MSU would finally get something going as Alessio Milivojevic would connect to Nick Marsh, cutting the score to 38-13. For the rest of the night, UCLA would run the clock, leaning on running plays to close out the win. Jalen Berger went off against his former team. He rushed for 83 yards and had three touchdowns. Nico Lamaleava completed 16 of 24 passes for 180 yards, along with three touchdown passes. UCLA was perfect on 4th down offense, going 3 for 3. The defense forced Michigan to go 0 for 4 on their 4th downs.
