Mission Viejo, CA- When two of the nation’s best quarterbacks are involved, it’s sure to be a nail-biting game. Many people would think that Folsom would pull off a big win, cementing their name in California. This wasn’t the case as Mission Viejo flexed its firepower, overwhelming Folsom 53–14 in a non-league clash that quickly turned into a one-sided showcase of offensive balance and defensive dominance.
The Diablos would set the tone early. Quarterback Luke Fahey connected with Luke Karby on a 23-yard touchdown pass to open the scoring, followed shortly after by a 6-yard strike to KJ Woodbury Jr. to put Mission Viejo up 14–0 midway through the first.
Folsom showed signs of life late in the quarter when Ryder Lyons found Rob Larson for a 22-yard touchdown, cutting the deficit to 14–6 after a missed PAT. But that would be the Bulldogs’ lone highlight for much of the first half.
Mission Viejo erupted for 23 unanswered points in the second quarter. Running back Dallas Miller punched in a 3-yard rushing score, Fahey added another TD pass to Woodbury, and the defense forced a safety to seize total control. Davonte Curtis’ 3-yard rushing touchdown pushed the halftime score to 37–6, leaving Folsom stunned on its home turf.
Folsom opened the second half with a promising drive, but stalled deep in Diablo territory. Later in the quarter, Lyons hit Jameson Powell for an 11-yard touchdown, trimming the gap to 37–12. However, the Bulldogs failed on the two-point try and could not sustain momentum.
Mission Viejo slammed the door with a flurry of fourth-quarter scores. Fahey tossed three more touchdown passes, including back-to-back strikes to Jack Junker and a 15-yarder to Max Markofski, extending the lead beyond reach. The Diablo defense added its second safety of the night, emphasizing just how dominant they were on both sides of the ball.
