COLUMBUS, Ohio – In a commanding performance at Ohio Stadium, the Buckeyes rolled to a 48–10 victory over UCLA on Saturday night. From the outset, Ohio State set the tone — imposing its will on both sides of the ball and never letting the Bruins get into the game.
Ohio State opened the contest with a touchdown on its first possession and continued to score on each of its first five drives. By halftime, the Buckeyes had built a 27-0 advantage, completely controlling the game’s momentum.
UCLA, meanwhile, struggled to gain traction. The Bruins managed just 50 yards in the first half and didn’t cross into Ohio State territory until the third quarter.
Running back James Peoples delivered one of the game’s signature moments — a 19-yard touchdown in the second quarter where he hurdled a defender en route to the end zone.
Special teams also made a highlight: Buckeyes return specialist Lorenzo Styles Jr. returned a kickoff 100 yards for a score, marking Ohio State’s first 100-yard return touchdown since 2010.
Quarterback Julian Sayin, starting in place of injured teammates, completed 23 of 31 passes for 184 yards and one touchdown — efficient and steady.
UCLA finally got on the board late in the third quarter when wide receiver Kwazi Gilmer hauled in an 18-yard TD catch, cutting the deficit to 41-7 after the kickoff return. But the Bruins’ comeback hopes were minimal from that point forward.
UCLA added a field goal in the fourth quarter to close the scoring at 48–10, but the gap had long been unbridgeable. For UCLA, the loss drops them to 3-7 overall and 3-4 in Big Ten play. The Bruins have lost three straight and are nearing their second straight losing season.
For Ohio State, the victory keeps them perfect at 10-0 and 7-0 in conference play. It underscores their depth, preparation and dominance even without key offensive weapons.
