Westminster CA- Sunny Hills held off a late surge from Westminster in a thrilling season opener, winning 28–20 in a game that showcased explosive plays, momentum swings, and clutch performances from both teams.
Westminster struck first with a big defensive play, recording a sack to set the tone. But it was Sunny Hills who broke onto the scoreboard first with a passing touchdown midway through the first quarter. The PAT was good, putting them up 7–0. Westminster quickly responded with a powerful rushing touchdown of their own, narrowing the gap to 7–6 after a missed PAT. Both teams exchanged punts as the quarter wound down, with Sunny Hills maintaining a one-point lead heading into the second.

Early in the second quarter, Sunny Hills extended their lead with another passing touchdown and a successful PAT, making it 14–6.
