WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind- The USC Trojans traveled to Indiana to face their first Big 10 opponent, Purdue. Despite having a three-hour rain delay, USC would still claim their first road win, 33-17.
Jayden Maiava would lead the way for his team as he would have completed 17 of 28 passes of 282 passing yards. Star wide receiver Ja’Kobi Lane woul have 115 yards with only 3 catches the whole game. Defensive tackle Jamall Jarrett had a big offensive game, intercepting the ball and returning it for 70 yards.

The first quarter didn’t see much action as both teams were still trying to settle in. USC kicker Ryon Sayeri would help his team get on the board with a 24-yard field goal. In the second quarter, USC would extend its lead to 10-0 with Maiava’s 3-yard TD run. Purdue would only have a field goal. Waymond Jordan would close out the first half with his very own touchdown. Taking a big lead over Purdue 17-0.
Entering halftime, the Trojans would have two more field goals. Jammal Jarrett would turn things up as the big man would have an interception, returning it for 70 yards. The Trojans now lead 30-10. Purdue would be answerless until the fourth quarter. Nitro Tuggle would have a 9-yard pass from Ryan Browne. Even with the late touchdown, it wouldn’t be enough. USC would secure the victory 33-17.
USC made quite a statement, securing its first Big Ten road win. The Trojans still have a long season to go, but it’s safe to say that they will be putting up a fight no matter what. Next week, they will be facing Michigan State at home at 8 pm PST.
