FULLERTON, Calif. – The No. 23 USC Trojans baseball delivered an offensive showcase Tuesday night, defeating the Cal State Fullerton Titans baseball 9–2 at Goodwin Field behind a season-high 17-hit performance.
The Trojans improved to 31–11 on the year, while the Titans dropped to 19–20. USC wasted no time taking control, erupting for four runs in the top of the first inning. A combination of timely hitting and a Fullerton error fueled the early surge, highlighted by a two-run single from Abbrie Covarrubias that gave the Trojans immediate momentum.
Fullerton responded in the bottom of the third inning when Andrew Kirchner delivered a two-out RBI single, scoring Esteban Olazaba, who finished 2-for-4 on the night. However, USC quickly answered.A three-run fourth inning pushed USC’s advantage to 7–1. Kevin Takeuchi came through with the key swing, ripping a two-run double to break the game open. On the mound, USC showcased its depth. Diego Velazquez earned the win, improving to 3–1 after throwing two scoreless innings with four strikeouts and allowing just one hit.
The Trojans used seven pitchers in total, combining to hold Fullerton to six hits while issuing only two walks. Chase Herrell added two scoreless innings, and Sax Matson, Adam Troy, and Grant Govel each contributed shutout frames to close out the game.

Every player in USC’s lineup recorded at least one hit, emphasizing the team’s balanced offensive attack. Defensively, the Trojans were flawless, committing no errors in a clean all-around performance.
